Well, it has been a day, to say the least. We went out for Indian food last night and I got the world's coolest t-shirt.
We had new windows installed on the first floor of our house this week, so I spent this morning doing touch-up painting and rehanging the blinds and curtains. I also did three rides today: I exercised my AQHA gelding Jack in the riding arena, I hacked my APHA mare Stormy around the pasture, and also took Louis' mom for spin. Befitting his 23 years, Jack (shown below) was a bit curmudgeonly but otherwise well behaved. Stormy (also shown below) was a bit of a handful. She was pretty nervous, spooked at something and felt she could get away faster without me aboard. After 3 or 4 bucks, I fell off and she hightailed it back towards the barn. I caught her, remounted and rode her for another half hour to 45 minutes.
Louis' mom (not shown below) was in a similar mood. She was pretty nervous, spooked at something and felt she could get away faster without me aboard. After 3 or 4 bucks, I fell off and she hightailed it back towards the barn. I caught her, remounted and rode her for another half hour to 45 minutes. I'll say this for her, though. She gave me half off for my birthday. I was able to use the money to buy some gum on the way home.
Now, I am vegging out in front of the Oklahoma-Texas Tech football game drinking beer and enjoying a nice Monchhof Estate Reisling.
