According to the calendar, Dr. Elsberry is 48 today. I hope he is celebrating in an appropriate manner, e.g. submitting a peer-reviewed paper or a grant proposal, teaching a class, and then relaxing in front of a fireplace with a good book.

Happy Birthday, Wesley, and thanks for all you do.

And hold some IDCreationists feet to that fire.  That or some marshmallows.  Your choice.

48. Wow!   I guess that makes you an elder statesman.

Happy Birthday Dr Wesley Elsberry!

And for your birthday present I shall reveal a secret I have kept for many years now:

I AM WILLIAM DEMBSKI!* Mwah ha haaaaaaa.

Louis

* Ok, so no I'm not. But it would have been hilarious if it were true.

Happy born on date. May your bluebird of happiness not be devoured by those big scary raptors. But it's OK if the raptors chase down and eat the rodent of ennui.

Not to give Louis a swelled head, but I don't think Dembski could do Louis to save his life - or his screwed up ID Theory.

Dembski's not bright enough and he has no sense of humor.  Galapagos Finch?  Compared to a full-blown Louis rant at a "Thought Provoker" or other cretin?  Please!  The funniest thing Dembski ever did was put Denyse and DaveScot on his blog.  Oh.  And wear The Sweater.

Plus, ASFAIK, Louis is still allowed in the Baylor Cafeteria.

Amadan - that's not evolution, it's gravity that causes the hair to descend.

And I'll, um, tenth or eleventh the "Happy Birthday Wes!".  I hope the creationist crowd keeps quiet for today, and give you some peace.

Well, I've gotten some critical runs done and preliminary plots of results, with data from about 1.5M Avidians. Rob and I had a meeting earlier about getting a paper out the door by the end of the month, which may just happen, if Matlab stops crashing on me. (I think Rob and I may be the only people at the MSU Devolab who even know about the claims made about the "Baylor" EIL putting us 'out of business' soon.) Diane and I are planning on taking the birds out to chase rabbits at a local garden center later this afternoon, and give the nice folks who run the place a disk of photos I took the last time we visited. That leaves the evening open for dinner.

Thank you, y'all, for the birthday wishes, and also for your participation here. It helps a lot to have the various resources I've had a hand with used and appreciated.

Excuse me, I speak Professoreese!

If I interpret this correctly, what Wes meant to say was:

"Thanks a lot for sending the All Star Science Strippers to the Lab at lunchtime, just as the Department Chair walked by.  Who knew that his wife had a hobby on the side?

I appreciated all your good wishes, but it would be even nicer if you cheap bastards sent money the next time."

HTH :)

Kate has volunteered her services, but only on the condition that there's video and a live audience.
