Just wondering what sort of events and such might be happening next month as we get closer to the one year anniversary of the Dover ruling.

I can't wait to read the tards at UD.  Dembski can remind us that Dover was NOT ID's Waterloo...And those of us who prefer living in reality can note that Dover was in fact their Waterloo, they lost and have no chance of ever gaining any traction again.  Their cause has not advanced one inch since Dover.  In fact they have had more set backs since then.

The DI claims they have spent 4 million dollars on ID research yet not a single paper published in a legitimate science journal.  4 million dollars and what do they have to show for it?  Seriously, 4 million dollars is quite a sum.  They have produced NOTHING.

We should chip in and buy Dembski a Dover anniversary present or something.  I'm good for $10 if anyone is taking a collection.

Speaking of utter, wholesale failure, the wedge strategy failed, the vise strategy was a no-show, what next from the tard camp?

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to some Dover anniversary hooplah.

How 'bout 60 copies of Of Pandas and People?  But if anyone asks where the money came from, deny everything....

Ah, I remember the morning that I read the news! We were staying with John's mom Kate in Portland, Oregon, and I jumped up and down and screamed. (Kate said, "I thought you saw a spider!") I bungled a joyous e-mail to PZ from Kate's computer and toasted the ruling with a latte. In fact, that's what I want. A big ole latte.

And a slice of cutie-pie from a big ole cuddly panda!  (And deny everything afterwards...) The anniversary is close to G.O.D. (Global Orgasm Day), isn't it? :D

It's all fireworks  and fart-noises over at UD and OE.

Really, if I were one of them, I'd just kind of let the whole anniversary go past without mentioning it.  So why on earth are they doing everything they can to remind everyone about the gory details?  The DI puts out a press release which sets everyone to combing through and rereading the ruling.  Dumpster, with the assistance of his "lovely wife Jana," commissions a crappy video in which the most compelling and devastating passages in the ruling are read out.  In a silly voice, and framed in farts, but still...

I'm really beginning to believe that the DI is spending its millions on top-secret, brilliant research.  Because it sure as h#ll isn't spending them on PR.

Well I hope we see lots of "then and now" articles at PT.  I have been reading some from last year prior to the ruling and it was fascinating how we were all wondering how he would rule, whose testimony rocked and whose was dumber than dumb.  It was an interesting time for science.

Remember when Dunceski calculated the odds of how Jones might rule.  What a jack arse he is.  I think Dunceski said something like

70% chance Jones will rule for defendants
20% chance Jones will rule for plaintiffs
10% chance Jones will rule in favor of the plaintiff AND say ID is not science.

Just goes to show you what a dunce he is when it comes to numbers.

And I KNOW the 3rd calculation by Dunceski is accurate, the first two I might be off by a little.

My take on it is this. Keep in mind that the DI hired a PR firm that smeared Kerry, so think of it as Rovian politics.

They know that the one year anniversary is coming up. They know that there will be a big flurry of articles on blogs and on-line news sources discussing Dover. They know that Dover was a catastrophe and that ID hasn't accomplished shit in the last year. So what their PR firm decides to do (since they have nothing real to point to or brag about), is before all the articles start coming out, to informally start swiftboating Jones, followed by a press release with a bogus reason why Jones's ruling wasn't 'valid'. Even tho no one but their own most ignorant followers will be swayed by this, it plants a meme that will be mentioned by everyone when they write the one year anniversary articles. It means that their little 'seed of doubt' will be present among all the articles. They know they have dozens of internet geeks who can be counted on to perpetuate this idea for free. (Check out Larry F's trolling performance at PT yesterday.) It's an old, old, old political trick. When the other side has something good to report and you don't, be sure and muddy the waters in some way.

Arden Chatfield, brilliant signature.  And I agree on your take with what we should expect from the DI.
