This post will probably get deleted because it is so off topic...But until then...Wouldn't that be cool if Rove really gets subpoenad (sp?) and is forced to testify under oath?  Holy cow that will make my year.

If Paley were to post this, it would be deleted. If I were to post this, I would do so on the bathroom wall. Since you posted this, I'm doing nothing.

The board generally needs to stay on the evolution / creationism topic, but nobody minds the occasional diversion.

The real dream would be seeing old Turdblossom getting frogmarched off in manacles for his 5-year stint in Leavenworth, but sadly I don't think we'll live to see that.

:(

Are you talking about this Karl Rove?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Rove

(For some strange reason the http:// button doesn't work on my home PC)

What is he possibly be subpoena'd on? Is it anything to do with exposing that CIA agent?

Arden, who is Turdblossom? G. W. Bush?

Bog forbid there should be more than one Karl Rove.

'Turd Blossom' is one of GWB's cute nicknames for Rove:

Quote

George W. Bush has referred to Rove as "The Boy Genius," "The Architect," and "Turd Blossom," a Texan term for a flower which grows from a pile of cow dung.

The subpoena pertains to Rove's involvement in the firing of US attorneys for political reasons. Turd Blossom seems to be off the hook for outing Plame.

Blogging about Karl Rove is on-topic.  Anytime you can watch a pig explode it is a useful scientific event.  And of course GW is walking talking proof of the De-Evolution Of The Species.  I contend that if the Fundies maintain their in-breeding, mentally and physically, over the course of time, we will be able to view Homo Stupidus in all it's glory.

My bolding.

Is that constitutional/legal? Certainly sounds unethical. ####!

Thanks for the answer BTW. It is hard to keep-up with everything that is going on in this World.

That's the whole question! Unsurprisingly, there are people who would say yes, and people who would say no.

Consider yourself lucky indeed if you live in a place where you hardly ever hear about these people.

Lawyers by any chance? No doubt they could make lots of money on the case.

Thanks Steve Story!

And I don't see Rove having charges brought against him or anything illegal having been done. But the idea of seeing him humiliated while being questioned (under oath) and the ensuing illumination of the shady goings on within the Chimp's administration get me all hot.

Those of us who are old enough to remember the Watergate hearings (and the subsequent Church Committee hearings), will recognize everything that has been going on.  Election funny business?  A president who thinks he's above the law (literally)?  An unpopular war started for BS reasons and carried out through illegal methods?  Illegal spying and wiretaps on political opponents and critics?  Politically-motivated firings of Justice Department employees who investigate the administration?  Seen it all before.

I suspect VERY strongly that there is still lots of stuff to be told that we haven't even heard about yet (and won't yet for a few years).

Alas, we Americans never learn any lessons from history, because we don't HAVE any history.  We are indeed the United States of Amnesia, as Gore Vidal so aptly put it.

First of all, Lenny is delusional and secondly, the existence of threads like this remove any doubt that most participants are incapable of objective, rational thought.

Have you ever read the Church Committee Report, Skeptic . . . . .?

Silly me . . .  of COURSE you haven't.

First he defends Coulter, now he defends Rove. Big fucking surprise.

Okay, since we're all 'incapable of objective, rational thought', why don't you come to our rescue and explain to us why we libruls have gotten it all wrong with this Intelligent Design thing. Your arguments have been so compelling up to now...

Two (possibly three) rather sweeping statements there. Are you going to explain how you came to those conclusions?

1. What evidence can you present that Lenny is delusionsl?
2. The same as 1 for most participants being "incapable of objective, rational thought".
3. How does the existence of this thread prove 2?

First of all, Lenny is delicious.  secondly, the existence of threads like this remove any doubt that most participants who are incapable of objective, rational thought do not belong here and instead should seek refuge at UD or some other site for tards.

Post fixed (I corrected Septic's spelling errors).

I'm laughing at myself right now because I just allowed myself to be drawn into the trap that I warned GoP about two weeks ago.  At least I can say I took the bait rather than offering it.  Touche, GoP.

To make this as short and sweet as possible is so far as it is completely fruitless and completely off-topic:

Lenny is delusional, IMO, for the same reasons we have discussed on numerous occasions.  He sees ongoing and massive conspiracies rampant in this country.  I'm going to avoid analysis of his motives because that is completely irrelevant but I would propose that Lenny lives in a different world than most Americans.

For those that are challenged by reading comprehension, I will state simply that I don't defend Ann Coulter, Karl Rove or ID.  My comments have always centered around the reaction to the first two and I have pretty much ignored the third, as it is due.

Finally,  the idea that anyone would enjoy watching Rove frog-marched for some imaginary crime displays an utter lack of understanding of government and the political system in this country.  I acknowledge that we have a number of members from outside the US and I can forgive that ignorance, but for those that live hear I can only say "Shame on You" and suggest you start reading something other than the New York and LA Times.

And with that I would say, Steve, this is the perfect moment to move (or delete) this thread as it is an absolute waste of time.  I think most will agree that that is not a sweeping generalization.

Actually, Skeptic, it's . . . um . . .  the US Congress that has seen such conspiracies.

One of those conspiracies was called "Watergate".  It involved thing such as . . . oh . . . a president declaring himself to be above the law, illegal firings of federal attornies who were investigating the party in power, illegal wiretaps against political opponents and critics, all sorts of illegal shenanigans to influence the outcome of an election -- you know, the same sort of thing we read about in the papers today. Alas, it seems there isn't any online version of the Ervin Committee Report, the Senate committee that investigated the Watergate conspiracy (and which led to half the Nixon White House going to jail).

(To Nixon's credit, in all of his massively illegal conspiracies, he never managed to hold anyone indefinitely without charges based on secret evidence obtained through torture.  Or, um, do you think that's all just a big conspiracy theory too, Skeptic . . . . . ?)

For some more massive conspiracies, have a look at the Church Committee Report:

http://www.aarclibrary.org/publib/church/reports/contents.htm

and the Rockefeller Commission report:

http://www.aarclibrary.org/publib/church/rockcomm/contents.htm

And for yet another massive conspiracy, take a look at the Iran-Contra report:

http://www.fas.org/irp/offdocs/walsh/

(By the way, when you read this Iran-Contra report, you'll notice that many of the names, then and now, are the same.  Imagine that.)

Wait, wait --- let me guess, Skeptic ---------->  It's all just complete make-believe, fabricated by those delusional liberals.  Right?

Skeptic proves my point admirably.  We learn nothing from history, because we HAVE no history.  In Skeptic's mind, it's like it never even happened at all.  (shrug)
