This site was created by Douglas Peterson and has ZERO affiliation with the University of California Museum of Paleontology  or the National Science Foundation or the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

I think that's pretty obvious at first glance.

Doug,

Come here with some humility and an open mind and these folks will teach you more than you can imagine about evolution.

Try it.  You might be surprised.

Scary

EDIT:  Why not post your 7 questions here and ask for responses.  Again, you might be surprised.

Well golly, that must mean you're right!

It's just another one of those asinine fundy sites that tries to rope in teenagers by being 'hip', which simply ends up looking stupid. Though I must admit, it often reads as though a 15-year-old with bad spelling wrote most of it.

A piece of advice, junior: try coming up with a theory, research, and evidence. Science is not won by who can come up with the most stupid websites or who comes first when googling the phrase 'evolution sucks'.

Evolution Question Number Six;
Ever hear of the Bacterial Flagellum? Upon electron microscope examination, it looks very much like a machine!

In fact, it bears a strong resemblance to an outboard motor, you know, the kind you see on the back of those small aluminum-fishing boats.

Any way, the Bacterial Flagellum is what scientists call an “irreducible complex system”. An irreducible complex system is made in such a way that if you take away any one part of the system, the system ceases to function.  A good example of this is the common mousetrap.  Take away any one part, and it ceases to function.  In the case of irreducibly complex organisms, taking away any one part causes it to die.

Question #6   The theory of evolution says that less complex organisms evolved into more complex life forms.  How could the Bacterial Flagellum have evolved from a lower life form? What is its' transitional fossil?

This thread could become one of the Great Ones.

What a wonderful website. I don't think it got even one thing right. A stopped clock is right twice a day and this chappie can't even manage that. Hilarious!

I love the fact that ID is NOT creationism, the site clearly shows this.

What a rich source of tardation!  I mean, the first three words you see on the site are...

UNDERSTANDING EVOLUTION SUCKS!

Obviously they think so, since they've made no attempt to understand evolution or apparently anything else.

LOL! Ever seen a man blog while missing a brain? No wonder he thinks evolution sucks. Jealous, that's all.

I've just nicknamed him "Box'a'rox." Box'a'rox, if you think evolution sucks, just remember that gravity is the "strongest force in nature." The sucky UD website ought to be right up your intellectual alley.

Wait, did afdave really say that?  Oh my!  I don't know jack shit about physics, and yet I am still aware are laughably, ridiculously wrong that is.

edit:  I see now that it wasn't afdave who said this, but instead was that other great font, Dave Scot.  Even better!

edit: I just finished reading the entire UD thread where that quote was found.  Awesome.  I wish DS was given as much free-reign now as he was back then.  His constant self-fallation brings a joyous tear to my eye!

It's a frightening thought, but there's probably a whole lot of people out there who actually are impressed by UD - presumably most of the regular posters at least.  We look at UD and see a scene from the Marat-Sade; they look at it and think, "Gee, I wish I could get me a website that good; if only I could be as smart as William Dembski."  Seems that this guy is one of them.

Marat-Sade! [Falls out of chair laughing, picks self up, wipes away tears.] With somnabulist Denyse O'Leary as Charlotte Corday, love it. But no one is willing to get near her, so it can't be the orgy scene at the end.

That is how I imagine it going down at UD ultimately.

Question 1: Can you show the transitional fossils that prove ANY of this?
***Note to Douglas Peterson: Science doesn't deal in absolute, immutable "truths". Math does. Ethanol deals with proof, too.  See this explanation: http://www.carlton.srsd119.ca/chemical/Proof/default.htm . Also, Douglas, just to anticipate your ignorant imminent response: your personal incredulity is meaningless in this, k?
Answer:  Yes, I can:

Question 2 If we are prepared to say that an inference of intelligence detected from far away originating radio waves must be proof of intelligent life (the designer of the radio signal), then why is an inference of intelligence in complex living systems here on earth not proof of an intelligent designer of that complex system?
Answer See question 1 as to "proof" in science. Now, show me your evidence that led you to an inference and I'll weigh it in terms of logical justification. Got any, Douglas?
***********************************************************************
Question 3 Given the large numbers of species in the fossil record extant in Cambrian fossil beds, explain why fossil beds beneath them are devoid of transitional fossils? What mechanism was responsible for this vast array of species suddenly appearing in the fossil record?
Answer: Obviously, you have no clue as to Vendian-Precambrian fossils, Douglas. Check the links I gave you above on the Precambrian and Ediacaran fauna as well as :http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/vendian/critters.html and http://www.palaeos.com/Ecology/Biota/Ediacara.html
***********************************************************************
I'm already bored with this, Douglas.
You're typical of the simpletons that try to forward "ID" by attacking NeoDarwinian Evolution, Douglas,  as if your views are the default "answer"...even though you can't support ID with any actual evidence.
Shoo, Douglas, you're not even a good troll, you're just a lamentably average one. Shoo.

Ah, this is a job for Humanities Girl!

Marat-Sade (The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat As Performed By the Inmates Of The Asylum Of Charenton Under The Direction Of The Marquis De Sade) is a play by Peter Weiss (and a movie by Peter Brook). De Sade stages a play in the asylum in which he's been incarcerated of the French Revolution for a bunch of bourgeois hypocrites. Rent it and watch it--it's not to be missed. It's like Jean Genet on LSD.

Ooooook, I could tell it was some kind of humanities cultural reference, but the only high culture I into is music- I was listening to some Rameau overtures this afternoon.
I'm afraid it doesnt sound like anything I would want to watch, espcially since I dont know who Jean genet is either.

Re "Science doesn't deal in absolute, immutable "truths". Math does. Ethanol deals with proof, too."

Of course, in math the proofs are relative to some set of axioms, which themselves were obtained by trial and error - i.e., experimentation (even if not physical experiment).

Re Ethanol "proof" - :p
