Over on the Uncommonly Dense 3 Thread, cogzoid mentioned his role in one of UD's greatest moments:
Quote
As a bragging right, I asked DaveTard the question that he famously answered by saying that he violates the SLoT every time he types.

That gave me the idea for this thread.  What was your best day in the tard mines?  What tardsploits will you be bragging to your grandkids about?

Don't be shy.  Let's hear about your best moments. And give us links, if possible.

I'll go first.

My two best tard-mining moments were:

1. 1/09/06: I become the first person banned by DaveTard at UD.

2. 12/15/2006: I prove that Dembski is the voice of Judge Jones in the infamous fart video.

Also, your best moments need not be direct tard encounters.  Amadan's Faith and Flagella certainly qualifies as a great moment.

You are teddibbly, teddibbly kaynd.

My favourite moment during my brief (and long-since obliviated) career as UD's one-and-only resident atheist ID proponensist was this, in which I attempted to introduce a new popular meme to describe the movement.

For some reason it never really caught on.

Personally, I have always been in awe of olegt's outing of Marks as Galapagos Finch. I'm sure that he will provide the links, but that was surely a fine day in tard-mining history.

My highpoint was my first UD puppet (and you always remember your first) Gary Larson insisting that BA^77  would go to hell for not being religious and holy enough.

Comments banninated and vanished into the Privileged Planet ether unfortunately.

Lowpoint - Realizing that all my comments, even if they were the best ever, and worthy of Pullitzer / Nobel double winning, would always be 2nd best to richardthughes # 1,000 post. *

* Unless Denyse accepts the marriage proposal of an as yet unnamed puppet and plans to elope to Montesserat with him and/or her.

** Or if Bill Dembski responds to a future UD puppet post and admits that ID is a total scam, and yes, he is in it only for the money, and it's always been all about the money.

Getting banned from EFT for having the audacity to tell them, you know, "sciency stuff" and telling them off.

I'd post a link but I guess I'm permanently banned.

But what a peak it was! One of my favorites!

I put quite an effort in a lesson on Fourier theory for Sal - but this was especially futile, though fun...

I can't post a link because it has disappeared from the intertubes. But my personal highlight might be the discovery that Behe had inadvertently left comments enabled on one of his Amazon blog posts. I posted the first comment, asking about Abbie's points re Vpu and new functions of mutated proteins, and the floodgates opened. That thread attracted Joe G for a while, but he gave up after a sound flogging on his notion that "design=mechanism".

Other highlights might be showing FtK that her understanding of anti-freeze and globin genes in icefish was a tad flawed, but I'm too lazy to find that thread right now. And it's really too easy to flog FtK (bless her heart) on biology, so it probably isn't something to brag about.

Sorry, I have to disagree.  Flogging FTK was fun, and her flouncing and flirting made it even better.   She was as clueless as Palin, though maybe a little bit better than Palin at communicating her crazy ideas.  So, all in all, flogging people like Palin and FTK is a very good thing.

My one and only entry into the TARD mines was when Dembski claimed Jeffrey Shallit was withdrawn from the Dover case because Shallit was a liability to the ACLU in the case. My comment had something to do with the timeline of Dembski’s deposition, and his expert witness report.

It was a very minor mix-up on my part about the timeline but had the Dr. Dr. 3 times to infinity so hopping mad that he responded directly to my comment.

I later found out Dembski’s lie about Shallit being withdrawn as a liability was only street theater on Dembski’s part.

What a good actor he is!

Bravo for exposing Dembski's voice.

Darwin bless you my son!

Jack Inhofe, BTW - I had to swear to Clive baby that it was a real name before beiing "granted" poster status.  The shallowness of the UD crowd helped, because that asshole Rep Senator from OK, Jim Inhofe, is very close to Jack Inhofe.

And yes, that comment from Denyse, admiring a Hugh Jass, was priceless.

thanks for remembering :)

ETA: Like a typical evilutionist, J-Dog repeatedly boasts about his Hugh Jass and Jack Inhofe constantly.

This is blatantly trying to corrupt future generations on multiple blogs. Have you NO SHAME, SIR? Post 7 here :P

I prayed to Darwin, and he told me to do it.

I love that post as much as Dembski & Marks hate it.  And with every tear that Dembski and/or Marks cry, a new evolutionist gets their wings. :)

But I also had much fun with Hugh Jass. It took me too long to get the Jack Inhofe joke to really enjoy it. How am I supposed to know how an American would pronouce that name *and* know all these collocial colloquialisms dirty words.

On 7/18/2006 03:44:00 PM, Blogger DaveScot waxed damned near poetic whilst opining...

I hate to disappoint the church burnin' ebola boys but I won't be commenting on UD in the future. I just told the smarmy Canadian cross dresser to go fuck itself in an email. It would have banned me in any case as it's nowhere near as cool as Bill Dembski. The stick up its disgusting ass could make a redwood feel inadequate. I'm going to go ahead and forgive Bill for this monumental brainfart as he's going through some long term bad shit on the homefront with a sick child. I felt bad about bailing out on him at a time like this but he forced my hand. No big deal. I had a few extra hours today to finish rebuilding the carbs on my jetboat (it's back together and running great) and throw a ball in the water for my puppy. He's napping at my feet on the houseboat at the moment. I think we'll go out for a swim and then take the jetboat for a longer validation run.

P.S. if my dog was as ugly as the Canadian cross dresser I'd shave his ass and teach him to walk backwards.

HAHAHA - I kill me sometimes!

Rich mentions my all-time favorite pwnning...that of the genius known as DaveScot. I'm surprised it took this long for Lou or anyone else to bring the UDOJ episode to the table.

There has been an immense wealth of laughter I've experienced through AtBC, its denizens and the sheer stupidity that is UD, but the masterful manipulation of Mr. Springer in full view of the internet is one of the all-time great moments in the Tard Wars.

A grateful bow to Lou and his brilliant charade...

I have no personal exploits in the mines to talk about. I could say I walk erect on two feet (Hi Clive!)...but I won't.

Since he's not here to do it for himself, we should take a moment to honor SteveStory for starting the original Uncommonly Dense thread.  One wonders if it took a rare genius to begin thread that became the heart and soul of this board, or if it was inevitable that someone would create that thread and Steve was simply in the right place at the right time.

Poachy gets my vote for the best sock ever.

Well, I wouldn't say that.  I was way too lazy in my socking. I was more into hit and run rather than any carefully planned and executed caper like JanieBelle.

But having said that, I actually ran across an image of my swan song as Leo Stotch.  I mocked Dave and he used the loudspeaker in the ceiling to announce my bannination. However, knowing Dave had a tendency to half-assitude, i took a chance that he hadn't actually lowered the banning hammer and poked him a couple more times.

The end result was not only a banning, but the complete deletion of any comment Leo ever made.

I was clearing out some old files this morning, and was reminded of another FtK pigtail-in-the-inkwells episode.

A couple of years ago I posted a picture of a cute baby goose, and FtK grabbed the URL to use in the picture sidebar of her blog. This allowed me to hatch a devious plan, whereby I would replace that picture with another image that would then appear on her blog. After considering and rejecting several options, I planned to use a picture of Louis and myself and Prof. Steve Steve at Hutton's Unconformity in Scotland, since we were going to see the place and Louis et ux. planned to join us on that escapade. Sadly, Louis had to cancel (some business with the French), so that image was never obtained. I had to use this one instead, and it briefly appeared on her blog until she discovered the problem.

Professor Steve Steve perched above the unconformity on a gorgeous summer day in Scotland.

I saw the spamming. So that was what all that was about? Lou, I've gained a new appreciation for your Jedi-like power of manipulation over the weak-minded.

paragwinn and heddle,

As I'm quite sure both of you are familiar with the personalities involved, sit down when you have an hour or two and read through UDOJ, following the links to UD and JAD and I guarantee it will provide as much amusement and laughs as any other form of entertainment available.

If not, I'll send you both a bottle of scotch.

Is there sort of a starting point? The linked post where the masquerade is revealed doesn't have a sort of "begin here" link. What is the other blog being mentioned, DAJ? Is that one of Davison's blog?

I have a faculty meeting at noon, and it would be nice to have some entertaining reading to get me through it.

Well, I suppose at the beginning would be a good place to start:

http://udoj.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

(first post at the bottom)

Lou's pic in the left column did not exist and the "I'm entirely fictional" under Janiebelle was not there. Follow the posts as if you did not know this was set up by Lou. Several short posts are inconsequential and can be skipped, but they provided legitimacy to the grand charade. To get the full benefit requires some reading at UD and Davison's blog.

Particular memories I recall were the Marines/Kate scare (complete with advice from the floating command center), the Big Green Marker treatment of Davison, WmAd's personal banning of Janiebelle, Springer's defense of the girls at both UD/JAD, the aforementioned Springer flounce-out-from-UD post...

While many individual events are funny in and of themselves, the entirety of the comedy-drama and the people it pulled in is without compare.

Lou's web caught many flies.

Back in the day, son, Davison's huge insult to people was to swap the first letter of that person's given and surnames.

"Esley Welsberry", for instance, was one of his favs.

It was natural to start poking him with his own stick when he inevitably went off the rails (which took all of about two comments, as I recall).

So yeah, he came 'round giving the girls shit and Davey went over to one of his single-post blogs and added about a hundred comments just blasting him.

At the time, someone eventually had to explain to DAJ how to delete comments, but they were up there for several weeks.

I've always liked Collier's rendition, and the mythos was perfect for what I had in mind, though I confess that Kate was a spur-of-the-moment inspiration to retain Davy's suddenly luke-warm attention toward JanieBelle.

Since Nakashima hasn't won white box posting priveleges yet, I hope my best days are still ahead of me. It was great to be unbanned by Barry, but I thought Nak was toast when he taunted Denyse with Proverbs 30:20. Apparenty, she didn't bother to look it up.

This is a tiny contribution, not UD, not creationist (when I've posted at UD they had zero idea where I was coming from, and I've never even been given typographical dirty looks).

When climate denialist Ian Plimer said the dog ate his purloined and photoshopped graph from the Great Global Warming Swindle and he got it out of a particular edition of a German-language journal called Klimafakten - he's a nutbar about editions; If you say he got something wrong in his Choose-Your-Own-Science book, he always says you have to say in what edition - said that when the book had been out a week - anyway, it was definitely not in any edition of Klimafakten.

So I "defended" Plimer, saying I was perusing a Basque-language climate journal and noticed one article printed, surprisingly in the Tibetan language that contained the chart and the article backed up Plimer. I dunno how I could have been more Dan Brown / DaveScott. Maybe I should have started - I'd been called in by Interpol, when ...

The long and short is, I was cited by quite a few blog commenters and a handful of bloggers.  And I amused myself greatly.

Lou:

What will you do when your biology students find UDOJ, etc. "Mr. ____, this was your WEBSITE?"

Although I might provide encouragement there. For a while, I was a straight-edge with a shaved head. I started subbing - wearing a nice suit and a trilby as befits a ska guy - and one time it was for a good friend, so I came in an hour early the first day to discuss the week with her. The long and short of it was, word got around that "Ms. X has a Nazi boyfriend and he's a hard-ass who'll beat you up" (which is jr. high boys for you), and not only were they perfectly behaved for me the whole week, but when she got back they were much more respectful.

I think you'll look very web-savvy.

Well, setting aside the second thoughts I sometimes have about teaching in North Carolina generally, I have considered this (more regarding the administration than the students though), and even blogged about it at Crowded Head.

The long and the short of that is, "Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke".
