Their grandiose self-conceptions to the contrary, the cult [the "evolution cult"] members are rarely scientists at all.

They're almost always biologists—the "science" with the greatest preponderance of women. The distaff MIT "scientist" who fled the room in response to Larry Summers's remarks was, of course, a biologist. While I'm sure there have been groundbreaking discoveries about the internal digestive system of the earthworm, biologists are barely even scientists anymore. They're classifiers, list-makers, like librarians with their Dewey decimal system.

Sorry - it cut my title short!

Should have read "and probably a woman too".  Great compliment, being mistaken for a woman.

I suppose it's rather obvious, but of course it is the incomprehension of evolution by ignoramuses like Coulter that attempts to make biology into mere stamp collecting.  They have no theory, they deny that we have a comprehensive and highly explanatory theory, thus they make biology into their own image, a meaningless morass of disconnected facts.

It was Darwin, after all, who noted that "doing science" without a theory means one is as good as cataloging pebbles in a gravel pit as making any other droning list of facts--like IDists would have us do.  But of course Coulter wouldn't know anything like that.

As they get more and more intent upon getting revenge and salvaging some sense of self-worth, the IDiots are increasingly turning virtues into vices.  Our "pathetic level of detail" is what Dembski contrasts to his inability to handle any details.  Our insistence on evidence (which may be construed as "materialism" or "naturalism"--though I prefer neither label) is supposedly our close-mindedness, and it is true that we are too "close-minded" to accept a bunch of unevidenced BS.  The experts in biology overwhelmingly accept evolution, hence they're not scientists, rather the people who don't understand biology in any detail are the scientists, the "experts".

They seem to be proving what we've said all along--that all of science and scientific standards are threatened by the IDiots.  They have to oppose biologists, evidence, attention to detail, and anything else that makes up science, just so that they can make room for their particular religious beliefs.

And they obviously don't think much of modern medicine, modern drugs and modern agriculture.

Reminds me of the Doonesbury where a patient had TB, and the doctor asked if he was a creationist and wanted the old useless drugs.  :D

How long has Anne Coutler been a mysoginist?

As jaw-droppingly stupid as this is -- I've never before seen an ID geek declare "biologists are not scientists" -- this agenda of redefining what the correct expertise is to evaluate evolution has been going on for a while. Every so often, someone on UD will declare that only mathematicians or engineers are fit to evaluate the origins and development of life. (And, of course, theologians, ex-marines and property managers.) Given their continued failure to enlist scientists or any other qualified people to their side, which is showing no signs of changing whatsoever, we shouldn't be surprised that all they have left to do is to try and redefine the whole game, and throw real science overboard. To essentially proceed aggressively without science, purely by  sociopolitical/religious intimidation and brute force. This crowd left the reality-based community years ago, so this is not too surprising.

It speaks VOLUMES about Dembski that he's actually proud of his collaboration with such a contemptible, truthless person.

I assume that was Ann's attempt to imply that biologists who 'believe in' evolution are homosexuals.

Ann knows what her fans want.

isn't Davetard famous for often quoting the "stamp collectors" analogy of biologists?

correct me if I'm wrong, but it actually seems a quite common attitude.

I even ran into it, dissociated from the creobots, as a grad student at Berzerkeley.

I met chemistry and physics grad students who on occasion would sport the attitude that biology was a "soft science" (I'm sure you've heard that term before, yes?).

being in the zoology dept. (the ultimate 'stamp collectors' i guess), I often heard idiotic statements of a similar nature coming from the mouths of grad students in the molecular and cell bio. dept.

The creobots simply play on pre-existing ignorances and contrivances already present throughout the community as a whole, including some scientists themselves.

not to be outdone, some zoology grad students (and even a prof or two) would knock the paleo dept. using arguments that sounded quite similar, when you get to the grit of it.

mathematicians would knock statisticians...

etc. etc.

such is life.  I often relate these stories to folks outside of academia who have the "Ivory tower" picture in their heads, to show them it's really not that much different in academia than any other field of human endeavor.

And I was in *gasp* the SOCIAL SCIENCES (Paleoanth, then Archaeo) and the stigma made me feel like a ...leper...*sob*

On a happier note, Coulter says guys that chase women are obviously gay, so I'm COMIN' OUT, BABY!!! This automatically doubles my chances of a date!!! (apologies if you read this,Fractatious, it was a joke, honey...put DOWN the knife..HELP!!;)

I seriously doubt that Coulter cares that much about ID.  She just equates liberal with evolution and therefore Godless.  She knows how to make the left scream and the right cheer and she's very good at it, look at her book sales.  To look any deeper into her words than $$ is just a waste of time.

Which one of them wears the makeup?

Speaking of bashing other disciplines, Vert Paleos bash the four eyed Foram counters, heehee. Peer pressure made us do it.

I do, and I look Divine.

Literally -- think John Water's "Pink Flamingos" except I'm not as svelte and pretty.

So if I am really a gay woman, does that mean my marriage to another woman is unconstitutional?

I'm with you skeptic. Although, I would definitely be embarrassed to have a biology degree. I mean, -list makers? sheesh, not me. no way. I don't even like will and grace man. You'd never catch me in some kind of sissy thing like that.
